Criteriums, Time Trials, and wind, Oh My!
Well, Saturday was the I.V. Criterium.
I hate that course, mostly because the 4/5 field can't seem to make the two 90deg right turns without jamming on the brakes. Evidence below:

Notice the huge swings in speed (from 28mph down to 20mph), and the power "fangs." This correlates exactly with both of the 90deg turns. On top of not knowing how turn, there were at least FOUR crashes in the damn race, one happened just to my right.
Now notice the same duration from the Master's 1/2/3/4 race same course:

The speed is essentially constant, as is the power. Guys, please learn to corner!!
Funny part is the Master's race took less power (237W AP, 279W NP) with an average speed of 26.7mph.
The 4/5 race was (242W AP, 286W NP) with an average speed of 26.5mph.
9th in the 4/5 and 15th in the Master's race. So not a win, but not a total disaster either.
Interesting that it is not much different chasing Thurlow Rogers in the 1/2/3/4 or the "Fred of the Day," in the 4/5 race.
Didn't really plan on doing the Monday night TT but I was there, and there was a start line, and people to race. What can I say - I'm weak that way. The TT was done Eddy Merckx style - no aero equipment at all, again I didn't plan on doing the TT. Caught some people and posted a 26min+ in hugely windy conditions.
Also found out today that I am currently leading the "Most Aggressive Rider" caption of the Bob Hansing series at Encino. That "may" be one title I can bring home! All I need to do is continue with the full suicide attacks.

Yeah well, cough all you want but until I get enough points I doubt my friends at the USCF will care about "my" troubles.
