7/26 and 7/27 saw Privateer at the SCNCA Masters Track Championships.

Two long days, much waiting, hot, and clearly not enough beer involved.

Points race was a train wreck.  I allowed myself to get peer pressured into running far too small a gear and couldn't hold the RPM when the attacks came late in the race.  I got gapped off, and finished a disappointing 7th.

3km pursuit went better the next day.  I went faster than last year, on more power, in worse conditions.  Still only good enough for third.  Bet hey, hardware is hardware.

It's made me reconsider going to Nats now, but I don't think I'll ever get as economical of a beat down any where else.

Yesterday (8/3) was the annual Fiesta Sunday Cruiser ride.  There was enough beer there. 
Many stop lights ran through.  Took the tandem, Max and Matt traded the stoker seat all day.  I discovered that the tandem makes a reasonably good off road bike  on the way to Devereaux point and Ellwood bluffs. 

There were ~370 bandits on the ride and we pooled together $947 for the biggest beer run I've ever personally witnessed.  There was a bucket brigade of 12 packs coming out of SOS liquor.  It was an awesome sight.  Bandit ride is not to be missed.  The only thing we missed out on was jumping off the Stearn's Wharf.  The SBPD had barricades set and the pier closed off - buzzkills.  Really I can't be down on the police too much.  They really let us get away with a lot, and no arrests as far as I know.

TjK went MTB racing 7/27.  Finished 8th in the Sport 40-44's on a bad stomach and altitude sickness.  The guy is a machine sometimes.  Now if he'd just get me some race dates, photos, and result postings he'd be really cool.
